Some introduction

The New Swing Sextet is a 2009 Grammy Award Nominated Latin music band who have traveled the world playing the best of salsa and mambo salsa internationally for more than 40 years. They will make their first appearance in China at the Shanghai 爱 Mambo Clásico event November 15-23, 2009.

New Swing Sextet曾获得格莱美音乐特别奖项，他们四十多年来在世界各地传播salsa，mambo的音乐。现在Shanghai 爱 Mambo Clásico活动将推出他们在中国的首次演出。

With a long history of making music on the streets of Latin New York with harmonized vocals, piano, vibes, bass and Latin percussion, New Swing Sextet recorded the last 4 albums in 1970.  “Back on the streets…a taste of Spanish Harlem” is the newest success of the New Swing Sextet.  The band offers the classic Latin New York sound of another era, perfectly preserved and bottled for today’s global salsa enthusiasts.

Shanghai has been coined the New York of China so we are now bringing New York to Shanghai!

GORDON NEIL:

A native of the island of Jamaica, Gordon Neil was born to Caribbean rhythms. This heritage bound him so closely to the dance and music of the islands. A performer from childhood, Gordon has been on stage since the age of 9, and hasn't stopped performing since.  His background and education as a dancer, which includes varied influences and genres such hip hop, modern, jazz, Afro Caribbean, tap, musical theater, contemporary, and others, has made Gordon one the most internationally acclaimed choreographers and performers in Latin dance.  Gordon has choreographed and performed for television, film, and stage and has worked for some of the most celebrated latin recording artists such as Group Niche, Ruben Blades, Larry Harlow and the Latin Legends of Fania, Fruko y sus Tesos, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and others. Gordon also teaches and performs around the world in places such Germany, French Guyana, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, Los Angeles, and several others.  

他出生于牙买加，但他与生俱来便有加勒比的乐感。这片岛屿让他与舞蹈和音乐结缘。他自小就是一名优秀的表演者，9岁便登台表演，自此以后就不曾间断。他学习过很多舞蹈，并且深受很多不同风格的影响，例如Hip-hop，现代舞，爵士舞，非式加勒比，踢踏舞，剧院舞蹈等。因此使得他成为最优秀的拉丁编舞者和表演者之一。他也曾多次为很多著名的拉丁界艺人在电视，舞台和电影中的舞蹈编舞，如Group Niche, Ruben Blades, Larry Harlow and the Latin Legends of Fania, Fruko y sus Tesos, Gilberto Santa Rosa等Gordon 也在世界各地进行授课和表演，像在德国，法国干邑区，波多黎各，西班牙，英国，意大利，洛杉矶等地。

Julissa Cruz:

Puerto Rico's own Julissa Cruz got her start in dancing ballet, jazz, and modern dance. She then relocated to Florida where she

continued her training and added tap, lyrical, and hip hop to her repertoire of disciplines. With all of that combined with her natural-born salsa roots, and you have one of the most diverse dancers in the world of Latin dance.  She has choreographed and performed for several stage productions and recording artists, and also served as director of Salsa Heat Dance Company in Orlando, Florida. Julissa most recently served as head choreographer for the Latin stage production "Migue." Julissa also performs and teaches around the world in places such as France, Poland, Bermuda, New York, Canada, Mexico, and many others.

出生于波多黎各的Julissa自小学习芭蕾，爵士，现代舞，后移居佛罗里达，并且继续学习踢踏舞和lyrical，，hip-hop等科目。她把这些舞蹈和她天生的salsa脚步融为一体，使得她成为世界拉丁舞界最独特的舞者之一。她为很多舞台剧演出和编舞，同时她曾是奥兰多，佛罗里达州的Salsa Heat 的总监。近来，她是舞台剧“Migue”的舞蹈总编。她也在世界各地授课和表演，如法国，波兰，百慕大，纽约，加拿大，墨西哥等。
